What is the Redeemly referral system?


The Redeemly referral system lets your customers send store credit to their friends.

When the referred friend makes a purchase, the original customer earns store credit as a reward.

It’s a powerful way to grow your customer base while driving repeat purchases with real credit that feels like cash in their account.

How do I set up the referral program in Redeemly?


  1. Open the Referral Setup in Redeemly.
  2. Set a signup reward — this is how much credit new customers get when signing up via a referral link (e.g. £5).
  3. Choose the referrer reward type — either:
  • A fixed amount (e.g. £5 credit), or
  • A percentage of the friend’s first order (e.g. 10%).
  1. Optionally, set a credit expiry period (e.g. 20 days) to encourage faster redemption.
  2. Click Save once your rewards are configured.



Can I send reminders when referral credits are about to expire?


Yes. You can set up automatic reminders using Redeemly’s built-in notifications or connect your Klaviyo account to email customers about upcoming expirations — great for nudging them back to buy again.



How do I customize the referral pop-up and widgets?


Redeemly includes on-site widgets that show referral offers across your store:


  • Referral pop-up: Appears when a friend clicks the shared referral link.
  • Referral launcher widget: Appears inside the Redeemly launcher on your storefront.
  • Thank you page widget: Encourages customers to share their link after checkout.


You can customize the text, color, and currency in each widget directly from the Redeemly dashboard.



How do I add referral widgets to my store?


Pop Up Referal


  1. In Shopify, go to Online Store → Customize (Theme Editor).
  2. Click App Embeds and enable the Redeemly Referral Widget.


Thankyou page

  1. Navigate to theme editor
  2. Open page selector menu in the center of editor
  3. Click Checkout & Customer Accounts → Thank You Page → Add Block → Redeemly Referral Block




  1. Position it wherever you like (we recommend placing it at the top for visibility).
  2. Save your changes.



Does the referral pop-up create a customer account?


Yes. When a referred friend enters their email through the pop-up, Shopify automatically creates a new customer account for them. Their store credit is stored there — allowing you to track, email, and remarket to them.



How do I test the referral system?


  1. Open your store and log into a customer account.
  2. Copy your referral link and open it in a new browser (or send it to yourself).
  3. Enter a new email address (one not yet used on your store).
  4. Check your Shopify admin — a new customer should appear with store credit automatically applied.



Why should I set up referrals?


The referral system drives new customer growth and increases lifetime value (LTV).

It creates a simple “give £5, get £5” loop that feels like real money — not points — and turns your customers into advocates for your brand.
